PRESIDEN SUKARNO: Dari Koleksi ke Industri Kreatif
Pada 1 September 2021 salah satu dosen yang juga menjabat sebagai Kaprodi S-1 Tata Kelola Seni FSR ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Mikke Susanto diundang untuk memberi kuliah di Asia Institute, The Faculty Arts, Melbourne University Australia. Undangan ini diinisiasi oleh Dr. Edwin Jurriens yang menjadi pengajar mata kuliah “Creative Industries in Indonesia” (Kode matakuliah INDO30002). Ceramah ini secara khusus ditujukan untuk mahasiswa mata kuliah tersebut untuk melihat perkembangan industri kreatif melalui kasus yang terjadi di Indonesia.
Dalam kuliah terbatas untuk mahasiswa strata sarjana (undergraduate) dari 2 prodi ini dibahas mengenai hubungan Presiden Sukarno, sejarah sosial dan industri kreatif. Banyak hal yang menarik untuk dikaji meskipun topiknya sangat khusus dan terpusat pada sosok presiden pertama Indonesia. Materi tersebut mulai dari siapa Sukarno, koleksi-koleksinya, efek terhadap seni di masyarakat, hingga pengembangan ide pasca-koleksi. Sampai-sampai kreativitas publik pun jadi perhatian dalam materi yang disajikan oleh Mikke Susanto.
Kuliah akan disajikan dalam dwi bahasa ini juga membahas sejauh mana Sukarno sebagai patron seni. Kehadirannya sebagai kolektor patron menjadi contoh hingga melahirkan berbagai catatan menarik. Selain sebagai politikus, pejuang, penulis, dan presiden, Sukarno selalu berfikir estetik. Baginya seni bukan semata seni. Seni dan karya seni mampu membuka pikirannya yang lapang. Seni dan karya seni sebagai katarsis sekaligus alat perjuangan. Karenanya, Sukarno tak pernah sekalipun meninggalkan sesuatu yang kreatif hingga akhir hayatnya.
Kerjasama bagi kedua kampus ini dinilai sangat penting untuk para mahasiswa. Kedua kampus yang berada dalam bidang seni humaniora ini perlu saling terus memberikan sumbangan baik bagi riset dan pemecahan masalah di dunia. Dunia industri kreatif yang berkembang semakin cepat di sebuah negara adalah kasus yang sangat menarik untuk ditelaah dengan perspektif berbeda misalkan melalui pendekatan berbeda antar negara. Diharapkan, kuliah ini dapat menjadi contoh kerjasama antar lembaga pendidikan antar negara di masa kini dan masa depan.
President Sukarno – From Collection to Creative Industry
Lecture for undergraduate students of the Asia Institute at the Faculty of Arts of The University of Melbourne and the Art Management Program of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (Institut Seni Indonesia, ISI) Yogyakarta.
Dr Mikke Susanto, Lecturer and Convenor of the undergraduate studies program Art Management at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (Institut Seni Indonesia, ISI) Yogyakarta, has been invited to give a lecture on 1 September 2021 at the Asia Institute of the Faculty of Arts at The University of Melbourne. The invitation came from the lecturer of the subject ‘Creative Industries in Indonesia’ (Subject code INDO30002), Dr Edwin Jurriëns. This lecture enables the students in this subject to observe the development of the creative industry through Indonesian case-studies.
In this lecture for undergraduate students of the two programs the connections between President Sukarno, social history and the creative industries will be discussed. Many interesting aspects of this topic will be examined, with a special focus on the figure of Indonesia’s first president. Discussion materials range from the person of Sukarno, his collections, and their impact on art in society to the development of the idea of ‘post-collecting’. Even public creativity will be a point of attention of Mikke Susanto’s analysis.
This bi-lingual lecture will also discuss to what extent Sukarno was a patron of the arts. The example of his role as a patron-collector has many interesting aspects to it. Apart from being a politician, revolutionary, writer and president, Sukarno always thought aesthetically. For him, art was not just art. Art and art works were able to open and broaden his thoughts. Art and art works functioned simultaneously as catharsis and as a tool for struggle. Consequently, Sukarno never lost touch of creativity until the end of his life.
This collaboration between the two campuses is deemed very important for our students. Both campuses in the fields of the arts and humanities need to continuously provide each other with input for research and the resolution of global issues. The increasing growth of the national creative industries constitutes a very interesting case-study for multi-disciplinary analysis, including a comparative international approach. It is our expectation that this subject can become an example of collaboration between international educational institutions now and in the future.
